Maneno en peul était en préparation depuis deux mois, grâce au travail du très érudit Oumar Bah, notre traducteur, et nous sommes aujourd'hui très heureux d'annoncer que la version en Peul de Maneno est lancée ! Le Peul(qui se dit pular, ou encore fulfulde en peul) est d'abord parlé en Afrique de l'ouest par environ 16 millions de locuteurs selon Wikipedia. Mais ce nombre pourrait être aussi élevé que 50 millions, comme le remarque un lecteur dans l'un des commentaires ci-dessous. Des données vérifiées sont difficiles à trouver, étant donné le nombre de dialectes et leur vaste couverture géographique, mais il semble que le chiffre mentionné par Wikipedia soit trop modeste. Le nombre de pays où le peul est parlé au moins par certains est très important et c'est pourquoi nous sommes ravis de l'accueillir comme option de langue sur la plateforme Maneno. Nous espérons que cette langue sera adoptée et appréciée car nous avons en la personne d'Oumar Bah un expert en peul. Il a rédigé le premier dictionnaire Français-Peul, pour lequel il recherche actuellement un éditeur. Le dictionnaire peut, en attendant, être consulté en ligne.
Si vous consultez la version en peul de Maneno, vous pourrez voir que des problèmes similaires à ceux posés par le bambara ont surgi, étant donné que certaines lettres ne font pas partie de l'alphabet latin étendu. Toutes ces langues devraient pouvoir être rédigées et lues sur Internet, mais le support technique dans ce domaine est parfois très aléatoire. Heureusement, grâce à l'expérience acquise avec le bambara, les problèmes ont été moindres, même si le navigateur Internet Explorer 6 n'est pas en mesure d'afficher certains caractères spécifiques du Peul. Donc, passez à une version plus récente du navigateur, si vous le pouvez ! Une fois de plus, merci à Oumar Bah pour son travail et à Claire Ulrich de nous l'avoir présenté.
Sorry, the figure stated above as Fulfulde speakers is not correct at all, "16 millions speakers" that is ridiculous. In Nigeria alone you have more than 11 million speakers as Fulbe are the 4th largest ethnic group in this country with 11% out of +-130 million of the Nigerian population. In Cameroun, Fulfulde is the lingua-franca of the North and in the City of Maroua alone you have more than 4 million speakers, not to mention Garoua, Ngaoundere and other towns. Fulfulde is the first national language of Guinea Conakry, officially Fulbe count as the first majority with 45%, which is also disputable...
Anyway there is no clear figure to presently rely on, but the number of Fulfulde speakers are usually taken from 30 millions, 40 millions and sometimes 50 millions speakers on words...
I don't know where you got the “16 millions” figure from, but sorry to say as we don't know the right figure we better don't mention it for now: it minimizes the role of the language and of the tens of millions who use it as their first or second language….
One more thing, Fulfulde is of the three largest African languages including Swahili and Hawsa, there is no dispute about it and moreover it’s well known that Fulfulde, by far, occupies the largest geographical area, from West, Central up to Eastern Africa, distributed in more than 20 countries...Countries that are not included in the list above is Liberia, in Liberia Fulbe are officially recognized as one of the ethnic groups and have their own Governor just as all the other ones in this country…

I do recall back before we transitioned over having the same problems - the fonts would only work in Firefox and not IE.
If you are intereested we have a techkit that will take your stuff in Mali standard and put them in a Unicode font (like Charis SIL, Doulos SIL or Gentium or Arial Unicode).
If you just have one or two pages, it's just easier to do a search replace than to install the SIL converters package (search the SIL.org site for it). We would have to send you the "techkit".
